Nasir
Nasir[edit]
Mercane Merchant, Arcane Broker, Aspirant Councilor

Overview[edit]
Nasir is a well-known and loudly self-promoting merchant operating throughout Trimaris under the banner of the Transdimensional Trade Consortium. Recognizable by his towering stature, azure skin, extravagant robes, and endless enthusiasm, Nasir is a member of the enigmatic Mercane race — planar traders renowned across countless worlds for their mastery of magical commerce and their obsession with rare arcane curiosities.
Though opinions on the merchant vary wildly, few deny that Nasir possesses an uncanny ability to acquire objects, information, and opportunities thought impossible to obtain. Whether by clever negotiation, planar travel, or suspiciously convenient timing, the Mercane always seems to appear precisely where profit, or trouble, can be found.
As Nasir himself often declares:
“Everyone Loves Nasir!”
Appearance[edit]
Nasir appears as a tall, blue-skinned humanoid with elongated features and sharp golden eyes. He favors elaborate robes inspired by eastern desert cultures, often adorned with embroidered sigils, shimmering fabrics, and jewelry collected from dozens of worlds.
The merchant is rarely seen without:
- A heavily ornamented staff or wand
- Rings bearing arcane enchantments
- A belt of mysterious keys and tokens
- At least one magical item he insists is “completely authentic”
His voice is booming and theatrical, making stealth nearly impossible in his presence.
History[edit]
The First Arrival[edit]
According to Nasir’s own accounts, he first arrived in Arkrath over one hundred and twenty years ago during the height of prosperity in the city of Shakar. At the time, Shakar stood as a thriving center of magical learning and trade.
Nasir claims to have conducted business there shortly before a catastrophic event transformed the entire region into the blasted wasteland now known as the Sea of Glass. Though details surrounding the disaster remain heavily disputed, Nasir often hints that he witnessed more than he openly admits.
Some historians question the timeline entirely, noting that Nasir appears scarcely aged since those alleged events.
Return Through the Rift[edit]
In recent years, Nasir reportedly returned to Arkrath by means of an interdimensional rift. Soon afterward, he established the Transdimensional Trade Consortium within Trimaris, offering magical wares, exotic services, and questionable bargains to adventurers, nobles, and arcanists alike.
The Consortium rapidly became both influential and controversial. Supporters praise Nasir for bringing rare magical resources into the region, while critics accuse him of destabilizing local markets and trafficking in dangerous artifacts.
Personality[edit]
Nasir is loud, charismatic, and impossible to ignore. He delights in:
- Grand speeches
- Public bargaining
- Elaborate self-promotion
- Outsmarting rivals
- Making dramatic entrances
Though undeniably charming, Nasir’s motives are often difficult to discern. He has a habit of revealing only portions of the truth, usually wrapped in humor or distraction.
Despite widespread suspicion, Nasir maintains that his intentions are entirely honorable, or at least profitable for everyone involved.
“A good deal leaves everyone happy! Especially Nasir!”
Magical Abilities[edit]
Like many Mercane, Nasir demonstrates considerable arcane aptitude. Witnesses have reported him using:
- Portal and rift magic
- Dimensional storage enchantments
- Illusion magic
- Defensive wards
- Teleportation
- Arcane detection
He is believed to possess extensive knowledge of extraplanar commerce and magical item creation.
Rumors persist that Nasir maintains hidden caches and trading posts across multiple planes of existence.
Political Ambitions[edit]
Following the death of the famed High Arcanist Wimbledim, Nasir publicly announced his candidacy for a seat on the Shieldhaven Council.
Nasir had reportedly followed Wimbledim’s magical research for years and occasionally corresponded with the wizard regarding planar instability and arcane phenomena.
His campaign has proven divisive.
Supporters argue that:
- His knowledge of magical threats is unparalleled
- His planar connections could benefit Shieldhaven
- He understands commerce better than any rival
Critics counter that:
- No one truly understands his loyalties
- A Mercane merchant should not hold political power
- Nasir profits from instability as much as he combats it
Nasir himself appears unconcerned by the controversy.
“Politics is simply another negotiation. And Nasir is very good at negotiations.”
Rumors & Speculation[edit]
Various rumors surround the merchant, including claims that:
- Nasir does not age normally
- The Sea of Glass disaster involved planar experimentation
- He possesses maps to hidden worlds
- He knows how to intentionally open rifts between dimensions
- The Transdimensional Trade Consortium is merely one branch of a much larger organization
None of these claims have been verified.
Nasir typically responds to such accusations with laughter, evasive answers, or attempts to sell the questioner something expensive.
